Rice and Breads
Indian meals match the main curry dish with either rice or bread.
Indian cuisine is so satisfying because each meal balances tastes and ingredients that go together. The rich spiciness of the curried vegetables or lentils (proteins) are naturally balanced by flat breads, or basmati rice (starches) which have minimal seasoning added.
Sometimes the rice or bread can be the main star, instead of playing a supporting role, such as when a meal is planned around a biryani or aloo paratha.
