Dear daughter…
This project began with my desire to write down some traditional Indian recipes for my daughter, Kavitta.
I was lucky to have parents who loved to cook. Growing up, hanging out with my mom and dad in our kitchen in India, I absorbed their culinary skills without even realizing it.
Then after my marriage, I was again blessed with a mother-in-law who happens to have an encyclopedic knowledge of north Indian Punjabi cuisine. My father-in-law was an exceptional chef in his own right. Not to be outdone, my husband is a creative and skilled culinary artist too.
Feeling grateful for this abundance of kitchen treasures that have been handed to me, I figured it would be a fun project to write down what I have learned.
This way my daughter Kavitta and her kids will have a repository of generational knowledge they can turn to if they wish to indulge in what I, in my decidedly biased way, think is the most delicious food in the world.
When my brother Jasper heard about my plans he said, “Why keep it just to our family? Let’s make a website and share this culinary treasure with all the world!”
So here it is! Please enjoy the site, and use the contact page to send me feedback. Love hearing from you.
